Borlänge Teacher Loses License Despite Court Acquittal on Sex Crime Charges

Key Points
  • Eric Salomonsson, a Borlänge teacher, had his teaching license revoked by Lärarnas ansvarsnämnd despite being acquitted of sex crime charges by Falu tingsrätt.
  • The revocation was based on chat conversations revealed by Dumpen where he allegedly attempted to persuade individuals he believed were children to perform sexual acts.
  • The Teachers' Responsibility Board determined he was 'particularly unsuitable' to teach, citing serious breaches of professional responsibility.

A teacher previously active in Borlänge has had his teaching license revoked by Sweden's Teachers' Responsibility Board (Lärarnas ansvarsnämnd), despite being acquitted of sex crime charges by Falun District Court last autumn. Eric Salomonsson was declared 'particularly unsuitable' to conduct teaching following the revelation of chat conversations by the network Dumpen approximately 1.5 years ago.

According to reports, the chat conversations allegedly showed Salomonsson attempting to persuade individuals he believed were children to perform sexual acts. The conversations involved three different fictional children reportedly aged 12, 13, and 16 years old.

In autumn 2025, Falu tingsrätt acquitted Salomonsson of all charges related to sexual harassment against children. The court stated that while his behavior was inappropriate, it was not illegal and lacked clear sexual character. However, the Teachers' Responsibility Board determined that his actions constituted a serious breach of teaching responsibilities.

The School Inspectorate had previously concluded that the teacher acted in a boundary-crossing and unprofessional manner, showing particularly poor judgment. The board's decision to revoke the license followed the inspectorate's recommendation.

Salomonsson reportedly argued in his defense that he had been acquitted by the court and that Dumpen's information was unverified. However, the board maintained that it was not a mitigating circumstance that the children were fictional, as he had acted in the belief that he was communicating with real children.
