A resident at a care home in Kalmar attempted to suffocate another resident with a plastic bag. The incident is being investigated as a serious misconduct and has been reported to the police. According to the report, a resident told staff that another resident entered their apartment and tried to help them die.
A plastic bag was reportedly pulled over the head so the person could not breathe. The situation ended when the victim panicked, and the other resident left the apartment with the bag. The incident has been reported to the Inspection for Care and Care (IVO) under lex Sarah, which reviews serious misconduct in care.
The facility has also made a police report. After the incident, the suspected person no longer has access to the short-term placement. Staff and residents have received support, and further measures are to be investigated.
