German automaker BMW is reportedly recalling more than 300,000 vehicles worldwide for the second time in a month due to fire safety concerns, according to Swedish media outlet Expressen. The recall, which involves dashboard wiring issues, was identified by Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA).
The affected models include the i5, 7-series, M5, 5-series, and i7 vehicles manufactured between June 9, 2022, and December 5, 2025. The safety problem reportedly involves the dashboard wiring, which will be inspected and corrected as a preventive measure.
This marks BMW's second major recall in recent months related to fire risks. In early February, the company recalled hundreds of thousands of vehicles worldwide due to starter motor fire risks. Last autumn, BMW also recalled hundreds of thousands of cars due to starting problems that could potentially lead to fires in worst-case scenarios.
The German transport authority KBA has identified the dashboard wiring as the specific safety concern in this latest recall. Vehicle owners are expected to have the cable routing inspected and corrected as necessary to address the fire risk.
