A literacy project has been ongoing for a year in Björkvik, where middle school students read aloud to preschool classes. The aim is to promote language development, reading enjoyment, and increase community at the school. Each Monday, two middle school students go to the preschool to read.

During a visit by SVT Nyheter Sörmland, students Simon Krantz and Signe Edoff from grade 5 read to the youngest children. Simon said he has gained more confidence, and Signe said she has become better at reading herself. The youngest children enjoy listening to stories, sitting still and looking at the pictures shown.
