The Bishop of Luleå will retire at a service on September 4, 2027, according to a press release from Luleå stift. The bishop, who will turn 67 in August 2027, said it was time to pass the staff to someone younger. "At 67 years of age, it is time to pass the staff on to someone younger, but until then I will continue to work boldly and with joy," she said in a statement.
The process to elect a new bishop will begin now, the press release added. The bishop will continue in her role until the retirement service.
