A car fire occurred on a church parking lot in Tierp, according to police. The Uppsala police reported that officers were dispatched to an address in Tierp after a car began burning. Police suspect the fire may have been deliberately set and have filed a report for vandalism through arson.
During the work at the scene, it was also discovered that several windows of the church had been smashed, leading to another vandalism report. The police note that this information is preliminary and may change. According to Uppsala Nya Tidning, the fire alarm came at 03:41 on a night toward Sunday, with the car fully engulfed in flames on Ringgatan in Tierp.
The fire service responded and extinguished the fire on the parking lot. There was reportedly a risk of the fire spreading to other cars, but this was prevented, and the operation ended at 04:19. The vehicle was destroyed and could not be saved.
