The film, starring Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell and Joel Edgerton, depicts how the group became stranded deep inside the Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai province after flooding blocked their escape. The youngsters, aged 11 to 16, survived for 18 days on a rocky ledge with water but no food. Search teams including local volunteers, police and Thai Navy Seals worked to save them.
All 12 boys and their coach emerged safely, though a former Thai Navy Seal died during the operation. Viewers have praised the film's authenticity, with one Rotten Tomatoes user calling it "as true as it gets" and another noting the lack of dubbing for Thai characters added realism. An X user described it as "the beauty of humanity" seeing thousands of volunteers collaborate.
This is a must see. There's no fluff, it's as true as it gets, and even though I kept up with the news of this constantly when it happened, it's still a good thing to be able to practically witness what happened by watching this recreation.
Well done to everyone involved.
What an absolute emotional and thrilling masterpiece. I especially like that there was no dubbing for the Thai characters - it was just so much more authentic this way. 100% recommend!
Great movie! So realistic, well-acted, and brilliantly directed by Ron Howard. It felt like a documentary. The ending was so intense for me. I was a nervous wreck.
I've never been so stressed out watching a movie before in my life.
Thousands of volunteers from all over the world working on a single course. The beauty of humanity.
