A newly constructed sauna raft broke free from its mooring at Strömsholmen in Eskilstuna during the windy early hours of Friday morning, March 13, 2026. According to local reports, the floating sauna drifted across the Eskilstuna River to the northern side near Eleonoragatan. The incident was first reported around 7:20 AM when passersby noticed the raft adrift.

Strong winds overnight are believed to have caused the structure to break loose from its position. The sauna raft, part of an ongoing construction project expected to be completed in April, was reportedly undamaged during its unexpected journey. Workers have since been securing the escaped raft to prevent further drifting.

The facility is intended for use by members of a sauna association who would pay a fee to access the installation once completed.
