Båstad, Sweden, has been selected as the Swedish venue for a bid to host the Beach World Series, the highest tour level in beach volleyball. The municipality has signed a three-year partnership and allocated 700,000 kronor from municipal funds to support the application. The goal is to bring the world tour to Båstad from 2027 to 2029, with the event costing about six million kronor to organize, covered by private actors, Region Skåne, Visit Skåne, and the Swedish Volleyball Federation.
According to reports, the bid aims to attract top international players and increase Båstad's visibility and tourism. However, the international competition for the event is reportedly tough, and success is not guaranteed.
