According to the Daily Mail, Barry Cable is facing historical child sexual abuse accusations in a criminal trial in Perth. The Daily Mail reports that Cable has denied five counts of indecent dealing with a girl under 13 and two counts of unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under 13 between December 31, 1966 and December 31, 1969. Prosecutor Kim Jennings alleged that Barry Cable exploited his close connections to access young girls.

The alleged victim, who cannot be identified, stated that the abuse involved physical contact, vaseline, and penetrative sex on multiple occasions when Cable's wife was asleep. She said, 'He was loving towards me like an uncle ... then things changed.

But behind that spotlight there was a darker side.

Kim Jennings, Prosecutor

' The Daily Mail reports that the alleged victim reported the abuse to police in 2023 when she saw Cable on television. ' However, Cable's lawyer, Tom Percy KC, accused the woman of making up the allegations to 'cash in' after learning Cable was found guilty in a civil trial in 2023. Percy stated, 'The allegations don't hold together at any level,' and argued that the description and location of the home where the offending allegedly happened did not match the house the Cables lived in at the time.

He also claimed there was no opportunity for the abuse because Mrs. Cable was always home. The Daily Mail notes that a civil trial in the same court found Cable abused a girl over five years from 1968 when she was aged 12, and the victim was awarded $818,700 in damages.

He was loving towards me like an uncle ... then things changed. He started touching my body.

The civil trial judge said there was compelling evidence the former footballer had violated the girl. What specific evidence supports the alleged victim's claims beyond her testimony remains unclear, and the outcome of the criminal trial is pending.
