Police received reports of gunshots around 8:42 pm on Sunday, according to multiple reports. Three men exited a silver vehicle and opened fire, injuring four males, police said. One victim died at the scene; three others were transported by private vehicles to a medical facility, and two later died.
The deceased have been identified by the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) as Jamar Leron Edwards (34), Lyle Anderson Robinson (33), and Jamar Kareem Ramsay (33). Acting Attorney General Michael Lashley extended condolences and warned that apparent gang-related retaliation has spiralled out of control. "On behalf of the government, I wish to express our sincere condolences to the families of those persons who passed away and deep regret to those who were injured in this recent and senseless violence in the country," Lashley said in a statement. He added that the police service is actively pursuing investigations with focus and urgency to bring those responsible to justice. "At the same time, it is clear that this apparent state of war between certain gangs of young men has gotten out of control, with retaliation present," Lashley said. He vowed that police and national security forces would be empowered to use every law to bring the situation under control, urging law-abiding citizens to stand with the police.
