The deportation order has sparked a political blame game. Centerpartiet claims that the policies of the Tidö parties, which include the Sweden Democrats, Moderate Party, Christian Democrats, and Liberals, led to the decision. Migration Minister Johan Forsell (M) rejected this, stating that Centerpartiet is responsible because it voted for the 2016 law on temporary residence permits. Forsell noted that in December 2023, the Tidö parties removed the last 'ventil' allowing those who became adults to stay due to 'particularly distressing circumstances'. He added that the current government is the only one that has investigated a permanent solution for 'well-behaved youths'.
Uncertainty surrounds the enforcement of the deportation order. According to multiple reports, no deportations to Iran are currently being enforced. Forsell stated, 'I cannot comment on individual cases but no one is being deported to Iran.' Ayla, who works at an LSS home and dreams of becoming a doctor, has participated in demonstrations after Mahsa Jina Amini's death and co-authored a regime-critical anthology. According to TV4 Nyheterna, she described feeling that 'everything is gone' and expressed fear for her life in Iran. It remains unclear what legal grounds were used to deny her appeal or whether the proposed permanent solution for 'well-behaved youths' would apply retroactively.
