Autostructures UK, a UK manufacturing company with a reputation for excellence, has entered administration. The company, known for its manufacturing excellence, had been a key supplier to JCB for three decades, providing over 22,000 chassis in the past ten years. According to multiple reports, Autostructures UK collaborated with JCB engineers to develop lightweight chassis that enabled JCB's Fastrac model to achieve a peak speed of 153.771 mph. Its history dates back to 1908, when it was part of GKN's automotive division before being sold to private equity firm Aurelius in 2020, after which it adopted the name Moveero, though the GKN brand remains widely recognized.
Joint administrators Christopher Pole, Ryan Grant, and Sam Birchall from Interpath were appointed to parent company Moveero Ltd on March 25, 2026. The UK business faced significant operational challenges, including a weakened off-highway market, downward pricing pressure, and strong competition from rivals, according to Interpath. Moveero has acknowledged that its UK operations have been under severe financial strain in recent years and require substantial additional funding to continue trading through 2026-27 and beyond, though the specific amount needed is unclear. The directors concluded that the business can no longer operate normally without protection from creditor action.
As a result of these ongoing challenges, the directors of the businesses have taken steps to protect the interests of creditors by appointing administrators. This will allow the UK businesses to continue trading while buyers for the businesses and their assets are pursued, with all staff retained during this period.
Interpath stated that the Moveero group continues to operate profitably, and the UK insolvencies have not affected the rest of the group's businesses in the US and Denmark. According to Interpath, the directors appointed administrators to protect creditors' interests, allowing the UK businesses to continue trading while buyers are pursued, with all staff retained during this period. However, it is unknown whether any potential buyers are currently in negotiations for Autostructures UK or Moveero Ltd's UK assets. The exact breakdown of the 250 jobs at risk across Sankey Holdings, Moveero Ltd, and Autostructures UK has not been disclosed.
