Automated Brick Reuse Factory in Sköldinge with State Funding

Economy & businessEconomy
Key Points
  • Automated brick reuse factory to be built in Sköldinge with 35 million SEK investment
  • State funding of 20.3 million SEK from Klimatklivet supports the project
  • Operations expected to start by June 2028, continuing local brick tradition

The new automated facility will be constructed in existing premises in Sköldinge and will resemble the company's other factory in Falkenberg. The brickworks site has a long history, with the original factory completed in 1918 at the same location, followed by a more modern factory that closed down in 2020. Despite this closure, the brick tradition in Sköldinge continues through the reuse of demolition bricks from various locations in Mälardalen and Stockholm.

The reuse operation is run by Tegelmöllan AB, a sister company of Brukspecialisten. According to SVT Sörmland, Jacob Steen, CEO of Brukspecialisten, described the company's staffing plan for 15 people.
