The final of the SM Unga Bagare (Swedish Young Bakers Championship) will take place on March 11 at Ester Mosessons gymnasium in Göteborg. Eight finalists from across Sweden will compete for the title of Swedish Champion in baking for young bakers. The competition is reportedly Sweden's most prestigious for young bakers under 24 years old, aiming to showcase the next generation of craftspeople.
The top four finishers will earn a place in the Swedish Junior Bakers National Team, which represents Sweden in European and World Championships. Among the finalists are Alma Ekberg, a 20-year-old from Jönköping now living in Göteborg, who works at Berzelii Choklad. " Two bakers from Gävle, Noel Sävström and Alicia Karlsson, both 19 years old, have also reached the final.
Sävström's entry is reportedly inspired by musician Håkan Hellström and the theme of music's rhythm, while Karlsson's focuses on Italian flavors with unexpected combinations like licorice. The final involves five intensive hours where competitors demonstrate skills in everything from bread and buns to imaginative show breads.
