Newey said Alonso feels he cannot do 25 consecutive laps before risking permanent nerve damage in his hands, while Stroll believes he cannot exceed 15 laps before reaching that threshold.
The team will need to severely limit how many laps they run in the race until they identify the source of the vibrations and improve them. Aston Martin hesitated about attending the season opener but is now in place.
