According to multiple reports, the perpetrators then took the two-year-old away. About five hours later, a man and a woman were arrested at Kastrup airport in Copenhagen. The man is the girl's father.
They were checking in for a flight to Doha, Qatar, and then on to another Middle Eastern country. The alarm in Jönköping allowed Swedish police to quickly issue an arrest warrant for the man. The father is charged with unlawful deprivation of liberty, aggravated unlawful threat, assault, and aggravated breach of domiciliary peace.
During the attack, the woman is believed to have waited in a car outside the apartment building. In police interrogations, she said that her boyfriend tricked her into difficulties. According to investigators, the woman had a key role by acting as an infiltrator who mapped the two victims and allegedly stole the child's passport.
The motive for the kidnapping remains unclear, and the current condition of the caregivers and the whereabouts of the girl are unknown.
