2 billion kronor to build a new cheese dairy at its production facility in Götene, Sweden. According to the company, this represents the most extensive investment in Swedish food industry history. The project is expected to increase Sweden's self-sufficiency in cheese by approximately ten percentage points, from 37% to 47%.
A significant part of the investment involves relocating household cheese production from Denmark to Sweden. Arla estimates the new facility will create around 70 new full-time positions. Company CEO Peder Tuborgh stated in a press release that broad political support for increasing Swedish food production and self-sufficiency was a key factor in deciding to make the investment in Sweden.
