Källberg is now finished in singles for this event but has another chance in doubles with Kristian Karlsson. Their doubles match is scheduled for 11:00 against Rogelio Castro and Adilya Sareen. Kristian Karlsson won his singles match in straight sets against qualifier Baldwin Chan from Hong Kong.
Karlsson, ranked 42nd in the world, has advanced to the second round, where he could face Lin Yun-ju of Taiwan, the world number eight. Truls Möregårdh will enter the tournament at 12:45, facing qualifier Seungmin Cho from South Korea. The Singapore Smash is the first Smash tournament of the year, with four such tournaments held annually, comparable to a major in golf or a grand slam in tennis.
