Antikrundan returns for 38th season with expanded city visits
Key Points
  • Antikrundan's 38th season starts in August with five city visits.
  • Three episodes will be recorded in each city, up from two.
  • Recording dates and locations are confirmed for each city.

The popular SVT programme Antikrundan will launch its 38th season in August, visiting five cities across Sweden: Västerås, Karlstad, Göteborg, Kalmar, and Lund. This season, the show will record three episodes in each city, an increase from the previous two, allowing for more in-depth coverage and audience engagement.

According to official sources, the recording schedule is as follows: Västerås on August 19 at Konserthuset, Karlstad on August 21 at Mariebergsskogen, Göteborg on August 23 at Trädgårdsföreningen, Kalmar on August 28 at Kalmar slott, and Lund on August 30 at AF Borgen. The Karlstad recording marks the first time the show will be held at Mariebergsskogen, while Kalmar slott and AF Borgen are returning venues. Each episode is approximately 45 minutes long, according to official information.

We are very pleased and hope that many people from Värmland will take the opportunity to come with their objects, socialize and learn more about their things. Don't we love the popular education and joy that is spread through this program.

Antikrundan has previously visited Karlstad in 1993 and 2016, and Kalmar in earlier seasons. Pernilla Månsson Colt, producer of Antikrundan, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded format: "It feels very fun to be able to make three episodes in each city. It gives us the opportunity to get closer to both the place and the audience. With this setup, we can create even more dynamics and variation at each stop - and let each city really set its own stamp."

Anne Lundberg, the program host, added: "These are places where a lot happens in the summer, and I am really looking forward to this round. Each stop has its own feeling, and we want to highlight that."

It will be the third time we visit Karlstad and it will be so fun to come back to the town where the sun always shines! Last time I remember it was raining, but the turnout was very large. Then we valued, among other things, a lice comb from the 1400s that, incredibly enough, was still intact. Mariebergsskogen is very beautiful, so just pack your coffee basket and bring your old things. With us we have Sweden's best antique experts.

Anna Lööf Falkman, CEO of Mariebergsskogen, welcomed the show's return to Karlstad: "We are very pleased and hope that many people from Värmland will take the opportunity to come with their objects, socialize and learn more about their things. Don't we love the popular education and joy that is spread through this program."

Reflecting on past visits, Månsson Colt recalled: "It will be the third time we visit Karlstad and it will be so fun to come back to the town where the sun always shines! Regarding the Kalmar stop, she said: "We are so happy to return to Kalmar Slott! It will be the third time we visit the city and we have longed to return to the castle. It is a magnificent and powerful environment, actually hard to beat in the rest of the country. And last time there were an enormous amount of people, we hope for that again this time."

The exact number of episodes for the season has not been confirmed, nor have specific details about notable items from previous visits been disclosed. Attendance figures for each location are also not yet available. The show's format beyond the three-episode-per-city change remains unchanged.
