Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is under investigation for suspected misconduct in public office, according to major media reports. Police took him into custody from his cottage at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate on his 66th birthday as part of the investigation. He spent around 10 hours at Aylsham Police Station before being released shortly before 7pm.
A new batch of pictures released by the US Department of Justice show a man resembling Andrew snuggled up with two young women at Jeffrey Epstein's New York home. The photos are among 180,000 new images shared under the Epstein Files Transparency Act and were released just a couple of weeks after Andrew was arrested. It is yet to be confirmed whether the man in the photos is indeed Andrew.
The two women's faces in the photos are redacted. Andrew vehemently denies any wrongdoing. He has lost his royal titles due to the scandal and was evicted from the Royal Lodge over his links to Epstein.
Charlotte Manley, Andrew's former private assistant, says she would be happy to speak to the police about her time serving him. She served as Andrew's private secretary and treasurer for two years after he was appointed the UK's special representative for trade and investment in 2001, having spent five years as his assistant before that. Charlotte Manley signed a cheque worth £75 in June 2000 to pay a South African masseuse to attend Andrew's rooms in Buckingham Palace.
The visit was organized by Jeffrey Epstein's girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell. It is thought that the UK Government could introduce legislation to have Andrew removed from the line of succession amid the scandal.
