Amanda Holden, the Britain's Got Talent judge, has spoken about her family, revealing that she considers herself a mother of three, including her stillborn son Theo. According to Daily Mail - Home, Holden described losing Theo during her pregnancy and said she always says she is a mother of three because she is. She also recounted that her heart stopped for 40 seconds during the traumatic birth of her daughter Hollie in 2012, as reported by major media.
Holden has two daughters: Alexa (or Lexi), 20, and Hollie, who is either 13 or 14, according to multiple reports. She married Chris Hughes in 2008, as reported by major media. Holden has been a judge on Britain's Got Talent since its launch in 2007, and Alesha Dixon joined the panel in 2012. According to Daily Mirror - 3am Showbiz, Holden described how she and Dixon made a pact to stick together when Dixon joined the show, to avoid being pitted against each other. Holden said they have grown closer over the years, especially through motherhood, and that Dixon is someone she can rely on in an emergency.
I lost a baby during the show [Britain's Got Talent, where both Alesha and Amanda are judges], I was hospitalised, there's been those moments where you need a female next to you.
Because with the best will in the world, you've got the likes of Simon, a wonderful man and sympathetic, but you just want that girl next to you who knows and understands why you might need a chocolate bar, an aspirin or a trip to the toilet.
She is the sort of person I could ring if I had a problem going on or an emergency and I know she'd be there for me.
When we lost Theo, there wasn't one moment where I thought why has this happened to me? But there also wasn't a moment where I sort of blamed God or anything. And I just, the way I accepted it was to say that he chose me, just for those few months to see what it was like to live and develop and be in the universe, and then the universe took him back.
Now I don't think that's religious, but I let him go back, and that was my belief rather than like he went back to heaven as such. I felt like he went back into the universe and he's out there, and he's still part of our family. Only way I could make sense of it.
I was like, gosh, I was so lucky to have him for all that time. And even though he was born sleeping, he was perfect. And I always, always say I'm a mother of three, always, because I am.
As much as the world is evolving, people still try to pit women up against each other, which is super old-fashioned and sad, considering most of the time it comes from other women. I've got two girls, and I am absolutely not going to have that as an example to them. I think that the more we stick together and we say, we are not going down that route, the better for all women.
At the beginning we had to be strong and united and confront the prospect we would be pitted against each other head on and then there was nowhere for anybody in the background to make that narrative happen.
I think it's really grown over the years. We're always on the same page, we have loads in common. We even went on a little mini break. Alesha came out to join me with her kids for a few days this year which was a first for both of us and so lovely to have her properly with me on holiday. I think we've just got closer and closer as the years have gone on, especially through motherhood. She is the sort of person I could ring if I had a problem going on or an emergency and I know she’d be there for me.
