Eight months after the Alvesta riding club's arena was closed due to asbestos contamination from failed roof work, the facility remains shuttered as the club awaits critical test results. According to SVT Småland, the cleanup has been completed both inside and outside the riding hall, with the contractor who performed the original roof work covering the costs.

The club is now waiting for test results expected in approximately two weeks that will determine if the asbestos remediation was sufficient. Only after receiving these results can a decision be made about reopening the facility. "We hope the riding hall is free from asbestos so we can start using it again," said Therese Johansson Palm, board member of Alvesta ridklubb.

The contamination incident last autumn forced significant operational changes. The club had to hold lessons outdoors throughout the fall and winter, switching to theory lessons when the riding track froze. Despite the ongoing uncertainty, the association continues to maintain community spirit, recently gathering members for Easter celebrations at the facility.

"It has been a bit of trouble, but we always try to keep the positive spirit up," said Thea Freij from the youth section. When the test results arrive in about two weeks, additional documentation review will be required before the riding hall can potentially be put back into use.
