Alvesta Riding Hall Decontaminated, Reopening Awaits Test Results
Key Points
  • Decontamination completed with contractor covering costs
  • Test results in two weeks will determine if riding hall can reopen
  • Past asbestos event forced outdoor and theory lessons last autumn

The decontamination has now been completed, both inside and outside the riding hall, according to an official. The cost has been covered by the contractor who performed the roof work, the official said. The club is currently waiting for test results that will show whether the decontamination was sufficient, with results expected in about two weeks.

Only after that can a decision be made on whether the riding hall can be used again, the official confirmed. The event last autumn had major consequences for the operations, forcing them to hold their lessons outdoors all autumn and winter. When the riding arena froze, they instead had to hold theory lessons, the official noted.

We hope that the riding hall is free from asbestos so we can start using the riding hall again.

Despite the uncertainty ahead, the association is trying to keep the community going. On Saturday, members gathered at the facility for Easter celebrations, according to an official. After the test results come in about two weeks, a change of underlay awaits before the riding hall can be used, the official added.

According to SVT Småland, Therese Johansson Palm expressed hope that the riding hall is free from asbestos so it can be used again. According to SVT Småland, Thea Freij noted that there have been some difficulties, but they always try to maintain a positive spirit.
