A local pub, Puskas platebar, has decided to donate its bingo sales revenue to the center. According to NRK Troms og Finnmark, manager Ruth Reinup said everyone can contribute to the local community. Last year, the pub raised over 40,000 kroner for the center.
Board member Wanja Sæther expressed concern about the service, stating that too little money has been allocated to run a defensible service in line with the law. The center has seen a 119-call increase in contacts over the past year. Daily manager Kine Bredal Pedersen said feedback from users is positive, but they know they are entitled to more help than they can offer.
Everyone can and should get involved. If you have the opportunity to do something to contribute to the local community, you do it.
Mayor Jan Martin Rishaug said the municipality's expenses for the center have increased significantly. He stated that more state funding is needed to provide a full service in line with the law, otherwise cuts must be made in the health sector.
It started last year with Women's Day when we had a café and wanted to give the proceeds to someone who actually needs it.
When we have a small community, it's easy to support each other. It's good marketing and everyone takes responsibility.
If we are to manage to have a good and full service in line with the legislation, then more funding must come from the state. Otherwise we will never manage to achieve it.
It is the Storting and the government that impose a good deal of extra work tasks on us, so more funds must start to follow.
