Fabio di Giannantonio finished third, while Jorge Martin placed fourth. After the race, Bezzecchi leads the overall standings by 11 points over Martin. Marc Marquez crashed out of the race; the cause of his crash has not been confirmed.
In the Moto3 class, Maximo Quiles won the Spanish Grand Prix. Rico Salmela finished 15th, scoring one world championship point after starting from 18th on the grid. Salmela said on social media that the weekend did not go as he wanted but that he can learn from the race and improve weak areas in Tuesday's test.
We struggled a lot at the beginning of the year. Today, it was clear - go from the first lap, pushing, trying to take the lead. From that moment, I knew that the rhythm was really good until the end.
