The oldest known recording of a whale song has been discovered, dating back to March 1949 near Bermuda. The crackly audio features a humpback whale singing and was found last year by researchers at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts, USA. According to scientist Peter Tyack, this recording offers insights into ocean sounds from the late 1940s and could help study changes in whale behavior due to increased human impact in the oceans.
