  • Affected product: Fishmonger Hot Smoked 2 Salmon Fillets - Honey Roasted, 180g
  • Customers can return for full refund without receipt

Aldi has issued a recall for pre-cooked salmon over fears it could cause food poisoning after a labelling error, the Food Standards Agency warned on April 14. The recall affects 'Fishmonger Hot Smoked 2 Salmon Fillets - Honey Roasted' in 180g packs, according to multiple reports. The product has been incorrectly labelled with a use-by date of June 25, 2026, when the correct date is April 25, 2026. The recall reference is FSA-PRIN-18-2026 and affects shoppers in England, Scotland and Wales. The product retails for £4.29.

The Food Standards Agency warned the salmon may be 'unsafe to eat' beyond its true use-by date. A spokesman said: "If you have bought the product, do not consume it and return it to the store for a full refund." The agency added: "This product is labelled with an incorrect 'use-by' date of 25 June 2026 which makes it unsafe to eat after the correct use-by date of 25 April 2026."

Aldi has removed the product from shelves and is displaying point-of-sale notices in stores. Customers with affected packs do not need a receipt to get a refund. Aldi said: "As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling The Fishmonger Hot Smoked 2 Salmon Fillets – Honey Roasted because the incorrect Use by Date is printed on pack." The supermarket added: "Customers are asked to return this product to their nearest store, where a full refund will be given. We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation."

It is not known how many units of the affected product were sold, or whether any illnesses have been reported linked to this product. The cause of the labelling error has not been disclosed, and it is unclear if the recall is limited to specific batch numbers or production dates. No other Aldi products are known to be affected by similar labelling errors.
