The owner, Akershus County Council, proposed closing the school due to low student numbers, and the decision was passed at a previous council meeting. However, the county attorney ruled the closure unlawful because the council failed to consult with union representatives as required by the Working Environment Act. The four bourgeois parties governing Akershus—Høyre, Fremskrittspartiet, Venstre, and Kristelig Folkeparti—supported the closure, while opposition parties strongly protested and demanded a legality review.
" Hoda Imad (Labour) called for an apology and an end to the closure process. County council leader Anette Solli (H) expressed regret for not following correct procedure and said a new consultation meeting with union representatives will be held soon, followed by a new assessment by the council. The case will be presented to the council again after that.
We have warned about this all along. The lack of dialogue with the employees at Follo Folk High School is hair-raising.
According to NRK Stor-Oslo, teacher Tone Marie Rosenvinge Hjort-Johansen described feeling heard by the ruling. It remains unclear whether the school will ultimately be saved or closed.
We expect the right side to clean up the chaos they have created, and give the employees an unconditional apology and stop the entire closure of Follo Folk High School.
Lovely to be heard.
