Key Points
  • AIK confirms failed negotiations with Robin Kovacs
  • AIK offered one of the most extensive contract proposals in club history
  • Reported verbal agreement on a four-season contract at 350,000 SEK monthly

Expressen reported that Kovacs and AIK had a verbal agreement on a long-term contract worth 350,000 SEK per month over four seasons. However, Kovacs declined to comment on the situation, according to Sportbladet. Sportbladet had reported in April that Kovacs was a target for AIK and that discussions were ongoing.

We have during a longer period conducted a constructive dialogue with Robin Kovacs and his representatives, with a clear ambition to reach an agreement. From the club's side, we have presented one of the most extensive and competitive contract proposals in our history, which reflects how highly we valued the player in question. AIK Hockey now announces that the negotiations unfortunately could not be concluded. Important to note is that the negotiation was made possible with specific external capital for this deal.
