AIK defender Sotirios Papagiannopoulos, 35, has not played for the club at the start of this season due to a knee injury. He reportedly had problems throughout last year and played at 50-60 percent capacity, according to his statements to Expressen. Papagiannopoulos joined AIK in the summer of 2020 and has made 180 competitive appearances with four goals.
Last season, he played 29 Allsvenskan matches, 27 from the start. In November 2025, he extended his contract with AIK through the 2027 season. He says his knee feels better now and he participated fully in a team training session on Wednesday, but cannot confirm when he will be match-ready.
