According to the newspaper Nordlys, there is now concrete interest in establishing a center for models that drive artificial intelligence (AI) in Grøtsund in Tromsø. The proposed center could be located 15 kilometers from the center of Tromsø. The municipally owned company Grøtsund Industripark AS is currently working to finalize a proposal for a new regulatory plan.
Among the businesses being considered for inclusion in the industrial project is a data center to run advanced models for artificial intelligence (AI). The identity of the company interested in establishing the AI center has not been disclosed. The specific advanced AI models intended for the data center are also unknown.
The project aims to become a Nordic center, though how this relates to the Tromsø project remains unclear.
