A 75-year-old woman has been convicted of assault for hitting a 9-year-old girl who was selling mayflowers in Löttorp on northern Öland, according to court documents reported by SVT Småland. The incident occurred in spring 2024 outside a local grocery store where the girl was selling flowers with two friends of the same age. The woman reportedly began shouting at the children when asked if she wanted to buy flowers and then struck one of the girls on the back as they ran away.
The woman denied the crime, claiming she pushed the children away after they called her names. However, the district court found the girl's detailed description of events credible and rejected the woman's version. The woman received a conditional sentence and must pay 10,000 kronor in compensation to the girl for the violation.
