The case involves several tons of hazardous waste discovered in the industrial premises, including crushed circuit boards from electronic scrap that reportedly contained beryllium and other health and environmentally hazardous substances. According to sources, the waste material was intended for extracting precious metals like gold through chemical processes.

Eskilstuna municipality reportedly made a police report about suspected environmental crimes after finding approximately ten tons of suspected hazardous waste in early February. The municipality quickly decided to stop the operations at the facility.

The suspected human exploitation is reported to have been ongoing in the industrial premises for three months, since December 2025. The investigation continues under the leadership of chief prosecutor Fridolfsson.
