A 50 million kronor investment will strengthen nature protection to preserve the beech and oak forests at Långasjönäs in Blekinge, Sweden. The money is compensation from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency to the landowner for not conducting forestry there. The preservation is in collaboration with the landowner, Karlshamns municipality.

The funds ensure these areas remain in the county and country, as broadleaf forests cover one percent of Sweden's area but contain nearly half of all red-listed species.
