Around 30,000 youth born in 2008 are being called in for testing for military and civil conscription in Sweden. The testing will occur between May 2026 and April 2027. In January and February, about 100,000 youth born in 2008 received conscription materials by mail with questions on health, personality, fitness, and schooling.
The Swedish Plikt- och prövningsverket (Conscription and Assessment Agency) selected the 30,000 based on responses. The testing includes an initial theoretical exam on word understanding, logical thinking, and spatial perception, a health check with a nurse and doctor, vision and color vision tests, a hearing test, a strength test using a machine called Isokai, a physical work test on a bicycle, a psychological interview, and a final enrollment session to review results and receive a preliminary decision on basic training.
