In Sweden, nearly 200 people with business bans are still registered as the real owners of various companies. Around 1,200 people have business bans in Sweden, which means they are not allowed to run or own companies. When Ekot checked these individuals against those registered as real owners, it found 199 people still listed as owners.
Bolagsverket, which manages both registers, has never cross-checked the data. Soledad Englund, a unit manager at Bolagsverket, says they cannot do this without an explicit mandate.
