A 10-year-old girl named Lilli Banck in Borlänge, Sweden, is collecting money for an orphanage in Ukraine. She has raised over 40,000 kronor so far by offering candy to donors. In just a few days, her collection reached 20,000 kronor, and after about two weeks, she more than doubled that amount.
The interest in her fundraiser has been greater than she expected, and her goal is now to collect 90,000 kronor for children in Ukraine. The money goes to the non-profit association 'Dalarna hjälper,' which purchases items for an orphanage in Ukraine and delivers them there. Lilli came up with the idea when she and her father talked at home about children in the world who are not doing well, and she now encourages other children to also raise money for those in need.
She says people can try and think about how their actions make others very happy, and donors can give any amount and receive a bag of candy.
