NASA tests record-breaking electric thruster at JPL

NASA tested a lithium-fed magnetoplasmadynamic (MPD) thruster at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory on February 24, operating at power levels up to 120 kilowatts, the first time an electric propulsion system has reached such high power in the United States, the agency announced.
