M23 and ADF attacks kill hundreds in eastern DRC

In early 2025, M23 rebels captured Goma, the regional hub of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, with support from Rwanda, killing between 900 and 2,000 people according to UN and Congolese estimates. Meanwhile, Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) fighters have carried out a series of deadly attacks in North Kivu, killing hundreds of civilians.
