Nyckelpunkter
  • Court rejection and appeal of tram bridge project
  • Municipal importance and benefits of the bridge
  • Test piling activities and environmental considerations

Uppsala Municipality appealed the Land and Environmental Court's decision to the Land and Environmental Court of Appeal, which has decided to take up the case for review. According to Felicia Johnson, main project manager for the tram project, the bridge is crucial for developing Uppsala in line with the Four-Track Agreement. Christian Blomberg, city planning director for Uppsala Municipality, stated that the tram is an investment in Uppsala's future, with the application concerning the connection between Uppsala's southeastern and southwestern parts and to the new train station in Bergsbrunna.

He added that this connection will bring benefits for business, sustainability, and more housing in a growing city. Test piling is being conducted for two days at the site of the planned tram bridge in Ultuna. The test aims to investigate whether the piling work will disturb measurement instruments and animals at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Ultuna.

The tram is an investment in Uppsala's future. The application that is now being reviewed further concerns enabling the connection between Uppsala's southeastern and southwestern parts and to the new train station to be built in Bergsbrunna. It will bring benefits for business, sustainability, and more housing in a growing city.

Uppsala Municipality has received special permission from the County Administrative Board to conduct this test piling. The piles for the planned bridge construction may need to be driven 40 meters into the ground. The environmental review primarily concerns the impact on water in the stream and groundwater during construction, but also includes questions about species protection and noise.

The specific deficiencies identified by the Land and Environmental Court in the original application remain unclear, and it is unknown when the Court of Appeal will make its final decision or what the exact environmental risks are regarding water, species, and noise. Additionally, the results of the test piling regarding disturbances to SLU's instruments and animals have not been disclosed, and the timeline for the Bergsbrunna train station construction is not specified.
