Martin Lewis apologized on X for gatecrashing Kemi Badenoch's interview on Good Morning Britain, according to multiple reports. He is stepping back from TV work and taking a social media hiatus, as reported by major media outlets. During the interview, Lewis interrupted to discuss student loan repayment thresholds.
Following the interview, Lewis faced online backlash, with critics labeling him as 'rude' and 'difficult', according to major media reports. Later in the week, Lewis and Badenoch met for a discussion on student loans, as reported by major media. After their meeting, a lighthearted social media exchange occurred between Lewis and Badenoch.
And that's me done. As I've no TV show for a few weeks, I'm going to take advantage and put my MoneySavingExpert hat to one side for a little bit and spend some time wearing my far brighter 'Dad' hat instead. So I'll be off social and work for 10 days or so. I'd be grateful if, while I'm off here, you report any scam ads using my name or image to the platform (they often increase when I'm not posting). Wishing all celebrating a Happy Easter or Pesach Sameach – and for everyone else, I hope you have a great time too. See you in a week or two. Martin.
Badenoch joked on X that she 'ambushed' Lewis in her office, according to major media reports. Reflecting on the week, Lewis posted on X about the turbulence and his sensitivity compared to politicians, as reported by major media.
Dear @KemiBadenoch, apologies for gate crashing your @GMB interview today. Student loans are so life impacting that I wanted to ensure the key point was made - that financially, if not psychologically, the repayment threshold is a bigger issue than the interest... Thank you for being so courteous after the interruption - you handled it far better than I would have the other way round. I have asked my office, if you are available, to discuss this more calmly.
If you want us to have a debate I'm very happy for us to have a debate. I think people need to know what it is I am talking about, you're both talking over me, excuse me, let me explain what my policy is.
If you want to help the middle earning students, the most important thing is the repayment threshold should have been increased.
Delighted to close the door on this week, not my finest one. I can’t understand (and am envious of) how politicians can come with flak so easily, my skin is far too thin. I’ll see you all Monday. Have a good one.

Good on him for coming over to Parliament for round 2 of our debate on my plan to cut interest rates on student loans.
Good to talk to the opposition as most of my meets are usually with ministers.
