A man in Umeå, Sweden, has been suspected of committing serious sex crimes against children shortly after being released from prison. The man, who is in his mid-30s, was first convicted in 2013 for crimes including rape of a child, child pornography offenses, and exploitation of children for sexual posing, receiving a prison sentence of two years and two months. He has been convicted multiple times since, including in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022 for various sex crimes against children. In 2022, he was sentenced to four years and six months in prison for gross exploitation of children for sexual posing and child pornography offenses. He was conditionally released in the spring of 2025, and the new crimes are alleged to have occurred almost immediately after his release. The man is suspected of gross child pornography offenses, with large amounts of child pornography found on his computer, including many files with material described as involving ruthless abuse of children. According to the indictment, the material contains real abuse of children. He is also charged with exploitation of children for sexual posing, sexual harassment of children, child pornography offenses, and gross unlawful violation of integrity. He is suspected of having encouraged young children to send sex videos to him. The probation service stated in an opinion during the autumn that the man should not receive a probationary sentence but should be sentenced to prison, noting that he has relapsed into similar criminality during ongoing supervision despite following planned interventions. SVT has contacted the man's lawyer to inquire about his stance on the accusations.
