Mälardalen University and Jensen Gymnasium in Eskilstuna have started a collaboration for a new advanced education program in mathematics. The program allows students to deepen their knowledge and gain insight into academic studies already in high school. During the last two years of the three-year high school program, students can earn up to 30 university credits. A student, Mohaimen Lafta, said he chose this program because it gives him a head start when he begins university studies, allowing him to spend more time on other subjects. According to reports, the trend in Sweden shows a clear negative pattern in the number of high school students failing mathematics 1 in college preparatory programs. Mälardalen University reportedly views the collaboration positively, seeing it as a chance to meet prospective students early and help meet society's long-term need for good mathematical knowledge.
