Iran has announced it will not execute any protesters on Wednesday or Thursday, according to the country's foreign minister. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Fox News that no hangings were planned for those days. The announcement comes amid ongoing protests against the regime in Iran. Previously, Iran had promised swift trials and executions for those arrested during the protests. Reports indicate that the execution of Erfan Soltani, a prominent figure in the protest movement, has been halted. According to the human rights organization Hengaw, the sentence against Soltani has not yet been carried out, but his life is reportedly still in danger. U.S. President Donald Trump has warned of retaliation if Iran begins executing protesters. The UN Security Council has called an extra meeting on Thursday to discuss the situation in Iran.
